OPEN POSITIONS

A Principal for Ruhnau Clarke Architects will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the concerns of one or more of the firm’s clients, including managing a major project or projects through all phases of development. Where applicable, gives direction to assigned staff and leads as the primary day-to-day point of contact for the client relationship and coordinates with other Studio leaders in assigning appropriate staff to the projects they oversee. As a Principal, you will establish and maintain your project budgets and schedules and monitor adherence to the terms of contract expectations. You are responsible for client contact and have the authority to direct, control, and monitor all project activities. A Principal must be able to multi-task, prioritize, and adjust to various project and business concerns daily as needed. A Principal must oversee several groups performing work or supporting studio workload while being responsible for ongoing marketing and business development and maintaining a consistent backlog of work. A Principal for Ruhnau Clarke Architects must be accountable for becoming a known presence in the community they serve and the market segments (both current and strategic) they serve.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

· Education: Architectural degree from an accredited university or equivalent demonstrated

proficiency.

· Experience: Minimum of sixteen to eighteen (16-18) years’ experience in production and

coordination of documents in all phases of architectural practice and in management of projects

desired; business development and client relationship building skills; license in your field is required.

• Software: Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint,

Project, etc.) or demonstrated equivalent and proficiency.

• License: License to practice architecture in the state of California required.

Responsible for supporting/backing-up the Director of Construction in his duties. (This involves, making phone calls or sending emails to Clients, Consultants, Contractors, Construction Managers or Program Managers (as needed) regarding RFI’s, Submittals, AFO’s, CCD’s, Deferred Approvals and other general construction related correspondence. Also includes working with the Project Managers, Job Captains, or Designers in obtaining sketches, attachments, and responses to questions regarding all construction related correspondence.)

BIM/Revit experience desirable but not required to modify/create BIM files to accompany RFI responses, AFO’s, CCD’s (as needed), for all projects in Construction. (This may involve contacting/working with Consultants in obtaining their BIM files and being able to coordinate with Consultants on BIM changes that may be required on their drawings.) Construction Coordinator assists the Construction Managers with the day-to-day processing of incoming and outgoing construction documents. The Construction Department sees a high volume of documents that require attention to detail and timely turnaround. The Construction Coordinator is a liaison to the production staff (Project Managers and Project Leaders), our consultants and our clients and shall assist in the effective management of document and information delivery.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Education: Prefer associate degree in building construction or Construction Management,

Architectural degree with extensive construction experience, or equivalent demonstrated proficiency

and/or CMAA CCM certificate.

• Experience: Requires five to six (5-6) years’ experience in construction management, or equivalent

experience as an Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent.

• Software: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook), Lumos, Procore, Submittal Exchange,

Prolog, eBuilder, Fieldwire, Box, DocuSign

FIELD DUTIES:

• Project Meetings:

• Responsible for attending Construction Meetings for assigned projects or as needed if

Director of Construction is unable to attend. (This involves taking notes or meeting minutes, if

applicable. Answering construction related questions regarding the project and bid

documents. Walking the jobsite and answering questions or bringing questions back to the

office for further review and answer at a later date.) Walking the jobsite includes climbing on

ladders and stairs, climbing into excavations, and walking on large construction sites.

GENERAL DUTIES:

Submittals:

• Responsible for the review of all incoming project submittals that require review by the Architect. (This involves comparing the submittal(s) to the project drawings and specifications and determining if the submittal matches what is on the approved bid documents.)

• Responsible for stamping and marking up submittals, as required. May include transferring comments to multiple sets or making copies of marked up sets.

• Responsible for assisting Consultants, Clients, Contractors, Construction Managers or Program Managers with all questions regarding submittals, as required.

• Request for Information (RFI’s):

• Responsible for the review and preliminary answer of incoming project RFI’s (Request for Information) that require response by the Architect. (This involves working with the Project Managers (as required), reviewing the bid documents, or other construction documents, in order to answer the RFI. May also include communicating with the Consultants to help answer an RFI or assisting Consultants in their answering of an RFI. Final review of the RFI response is by Direction of Construction prior to the RFI with response being returned to the field.)

• Architect field orders (AFO’s):

• Responsible for drafting AFO’s. (This involves working closely with Direction of Construction to determine what AFO’s need to be issued. Working with the Project Manager’s to obtain sketches or attachments, as required. Contacting Consultants to obtain AFO information, at Director of Construction’s direction. Final review of AFO’s is by Direction of Construction prior to the AFO being issued to the field.)

• Review of contractor cost proposals and change orders.

• Review of contract schedule for compliance with contract requirements.
