STORY
This project converted the abandoned and vandalized Barstow Intermediate School site into a fine arts academy for Barstow Unified School District Emphasizing artistic expression and utilizing the colors of the surrounding desert landscape, the Barstow Fine Arts Academy emerges from the ashes with a new rich colorful environment that promotes community connected spaces and active learning designed to be flexible and adaptable to various levels of instruction.
SITE PLAN
The site plan includes the modernization of two existing buildings and five new buildings. The existing Library/Media Center and music classrooms were modernized to support the charter school’s new program, and three new classroom buildings, an Administration/Kindergarten building, and a multipurpose room/central kitchen were constructed. The site plan also included a separate entrance and delivery dock directly connected to the new Central Kitchen/Food Service area, which will be used to prepare and ship food for students districtwide.
