STORY

The East Valley Water District wanted to create a recycled water center to ensure their community has access to a safe, reliable, and environmentally sound water supply.

Recharge basins replenish what was once lost by returning treated water to the groundwater aquifer. By replicating the natural water recycling process, the facility can produce quality water for alternative uses and potentially save 10 million gallons per day of treated water that was previously discharged out of the service area. The treatment plant is designed to utilize the most advanced technology–Membrane BioReactors (MBR) and ultraviolet treatment–to produce disinfected water and meet all applicable requirements for groundwater recharge. Aesthetically, the design concept seeks to elevate the highly technical components of the project by incorporating rustic materials in modern forms.
