STORY

The Fontana Unified School District New Secondary Academy project creates a forward-thinking educational campus designed to serve the rapidly growing northern Fontana community through an innovative, student-centered learning model. Planned as a comprehensive grades 7–12 academy, the new campus is envisioned as a collaborative environment where academic instruction, career-connected learning, creativity, and community engagement intersect. The approximately 150,000-square-foot campus is designed to accommodate up to 1,200 students and features a diverse range of modern educational environments, including STEM labs, robotics and fabrication labs, media production studios, graphic design spaces, maker spaces, flexible performing arts environments, and collaborative indoor and outdoor learning areas. The campus also includes a student center, gymnasium, courtyards, gardens, walking paths, amphitheater spaces, and flexible gathering environments that support both academic and social development. Conceived as more than a traditional school, the academy is designed to function as a community hub and cultural destination that celebrates the identity and history of Fontana while creating opportunities for student expression and engagement. The campus planning emphasizes collaboration, hands-on learning, creativity, and personalized support through flexible learning environments that prepare students for higher education, careers, and lifelong success. The project reflects Fontana Unified School District’s commitment to providing innovative, future-ready educational facilities that respond to enrollment growth while fostering equity, connection, and opportunity for the next generation of learners.
