This modernization project was primarily initiated to address various site, safety and circulation challenges. At the same time, we wanted to encourage student exploration and engagement of the natural world. We were inspired by the biodiversity of native flora and fauna, organizing learning villages around local ecosystems. Play structures reflect natural forms and landscape design mimics outdoor spaces. Inside, the nature motif is translated into organic forms, daylighting, natural materials and textures.
